Apply! The on-time application period for the 2026-2027 school year opened on December 3, 2025, and closed on February 11, 2026. Submitting an application during the on-time period is one of the best ways to increase the chance of a placement offer; however, there is still time to apply. The late application is open as of March 9, 2026 - late application, same opportunity!

Placement announcements are made in mid-March and continue biweekly, as seats are made available, through September. Magnet school placements will not be made after October 1, 2026.

If you receive an offer, this is your only offer for this year's placement process. Your application will be taken off of the waitlist for all other magnet, Open Choice, and CTECS schools. 

In order to respond to your offer, please follow the below steps:

1. Go to ChooseYourSchool.org and login. 
2. Go to Your Dashboard and download your notification letter from the Documents section under Tools. 
3. Select View Offer on the student card or on the application card for the program with the placement offer. 
4. Select Accept or Deny by the deadline. You will receive a confirmation message from Enrollwise after you make your selection. 

If you are notified that your application has been waitlisted, no action is required from you, but you can edit your application, change your choice order, and add new selections. 

If you do not receive a placement offer by October 1, your application will become inactive and waitlists will expire. 

If you receive a placement offer, you can either:

• Accept Your Offer and Register! You will need to accept your offer and register within a specified time frame to keep your seat. The school you were offered a seat at or the GUMSS Central Office team will share registration requirements with you.

OR

• Decline Your Offer. If you decline an offer, you are no longer eligible for a placement, but can reapply for the next school year. 

Our pre-registration process puts you in our PowerSchool Queue. Pre-registration requires you to submit Student, Household, and Guardian Information that should only take a few minutes for you to complete. 

Once you have submitted your pre-registration, we will confirm all of your information matches your RSCO application. If your information matches, you will be notified of the approval and will receive information from GUMSS as to what your next steps are. If your information does not match the information you included in your RSCO application, you will be notified by GUMSS and will be told to contact RSCO for more assistance. Upon approval of your pre-registration, you will receive an email with instructions on how to proceed with enrollment. You will first be prompted to create a PowerSchool account and then attach your scholar to your account using an access code that can be found in the previously mentioned instructional email. Once you are logged into your PowerSchool account, click "Forms" on the tool bar on the left side of the screen. You will then select the "Enrollment" tab to begin your enrollment. The system will guide you through multiple sections, which include, Contacts, Demographics, Health and Medical, Home Language Survey, Income Form, Permissions, Release of Student Records, and Residency Verification. 

Throughout the sections, you will need to upload several necessary documents. Below you will find the guidelines for documentation that can be provided digitally or physically. These guidelines are also listed in the instructions email. 

If you reside in Hartford, please see the tab below for a complete list of the documents required for registration. 

If you reside outside of Hartford, then you must register with your town's district and complete and submit our District Residency Verification Form by the registration deadline to ensure complete enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year. Click here to find and download your district's preferred documentation. Please present the District Residency Verification Form, which is available in PowerSchool, as well as appropriate residency documentation, to your home district to sign. You will need to upload the signed form or bring it to our Central Office as a part of the enrollment process. 

After you submit all of your documents and complete your enrollment, we will review your materials and let you know if we need any other information. When you are fully enrolled, GUMSS or the school will be in touch about what's next.
